Dress Code

Please read the following Dress Code thoroughly and know the proper requirements for your child’s dance studies at Bedford Dance Center. Remember: Our qualifications offer a professionalism like no other studio in the area; in keeping, we teach professionalism and a serious attitude toward training in dance. Therefore, we expect our students’ adherence to the Dress Code set forth by this studio which is congruent with the historical development of dance, traditional arts studies, and national standards in dance education. A student who does not feel confident in their “look” may not be able to concentrate fully during class. Ill-fitted shoes may cause blisters, calluses and pain too severe to participate. Ill-cut body wear may be too revealing or cause constant pulling and tugging at the garment. A cover-up should be worn entering and leaving the studio. Do not wear dance shoes outside of class.

Ballet Class Attire

All ballet students should wear pink tights & leather or canvas split sole ballet slippers. Capezio, Bloch or Grishko brand shoes & tights are preferred.
Hair should be pulled back securely in a bun. Bobby pins, hair spray, and hair nets will help keep hair in place for the entire class. Students will not be permitted to participate in class unless hair secured appropriately.
For the safety of all ballet dancer’s, please ensure that the drawstrings on the ballet slippers are pulled to adjust the width, tied in a double knot, and the loose ends cut. Bows on the front of the slippers always untie and can be dangerous. Underwear is NOT to be worn under leotard and tights!!!!
