Bedford Dance Center Costume Information
We are very fortunate to have a very talented group of incredible volunteers who design and sew dozens of costumes every year. Because of their efforts we are able to do costume rentals instead of having to order a lot of costumes from catalogs. A minimal rental fee of $28 for group dances and $35 for soloist costumes will be charged for yearly performances. This fee covers the purchase and labor costs to make the costumes and accessories, as well as cleaning and maintenance. In most cases, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern and Tap class costumes are purchased and not a rental. However, this will depend on the theme for the production. We will do our best to find the best quality for a reasonable price. Many of those costumes will be appropriate dance class attire for the following season. All rental costumes are to be returned the day of the performance. No unauthorized alterations are to be made the rental costumes!
Recital Accessories, Etc.
Stage Make-Up and Hair
All dancers will need to wear full stage make-up (foundation, blush, eyeshadow (neutral colors), eyeliner, mascara and lipstick (coral/rose shades - NO BRIGHT RED), and for older dancers false eyelashes.
Dancers will also need to have on hand hair accessories including extra bobby pins, elastics, hair nets (same color as hair), barrettes (no colored, silver or gold) -- tortoise shell style the same color as hair. Lots of hairspray and/or gel. NO BANGS PLEASE! Headpieces should be secured with several bobby pins.
ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY, WATCHES OR NAIL POLISH!
Tights
In most cases, tights are as follows. There may be special occassions when an instructor will request a special tight to be purchased:
