Pointe 2/3A

As part of the Intensive Division Program, Pointe 2/3 is for the dancer who has learned to navigate point work with two to four years experience.  In this class a balance of  barre excercises and center work is important to continue the progression of making the dancer comfortable and aware of injury prevention.  Attendance is extremely important in beginning pointe to help with muscle retention.  Students in this class have the opportunity of additional performances in BDC’s annual productions of the Nutcracker Suite and Festival of Dance.

This class has a required curriculum which includes 2 ballet classes, 2 pointe classes, as well as enrichment classes in modern and jazz technique a week. Additional enrichment classes available include Hip Hop, Tap and Acro. Dancers must be at least 13 to 15 years old to be enrolled in this class.

The IDP syllabus is designed to properly prepare the serious student in a logical and safe progression of skills. Although each dancer progresses differently, successful completion of this class can take as long as 2 years.
