Program Guidelines

Class Absences

No tuition credit will be given for a student missing classes. Make-up classes are available and encouraged.  Students have one month to make up missed lessons.  If, for some reason, the student is unable to make up missed classes within this time period, please have the student check with the instructor, or office, regarding extending the time make-ups can be done.


If a child is dropping from any class(es), the office must be notified in writing by mail, or email, thirty (30) days prior to withdrawal. Until such time, the space will be held for the student and the tuition will continue to accrue and be due and payable until such notification is received.

Arrive on Time

Students should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their schedule class time. This gives the student time to warm-up and stretch for class to help avoid injury to muscles and joints.  This will also allow time for health screenings upon arrival in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Children under 7 should be accompanied by an adult. Small children should be taken to the bathroom prior to class.  We do appreciate prompt pick up times after class.  Dancers must remain in the building to wait for their transportation.  Our faculty and staff should be notified if there will be a late pick up.

In the interest of the child’s safety, and respect for other students in the class, anyone arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of a class will only be permitted to observe. If you are running late, please call the studio as soon as possible. This will ease the child’s nerves as well as allow us to make special arrangements as needed.

Be Prepared

Students should arrive dressed, according to the dress code and with all necessary hair accessories and extra shoes in a small dance bag. Students who are not properly dressed, adequately prepared, or late to class due to lack of preparation will observe class only.  Some dance bag item suggestions:  Band aids, cold-packs, pain reliever for any medical needs.  A prepared dancer has already set themselves up for success!


Proper hygiene is essential in all aspects of life. However, in a dance studio where activities induce sweat and dancers are moving throughout the space. Please be sure all dancewear is laundered after each wearing, hair should be clean and pulled back properly, feet should be washed after school, deodorant should be a consideration for all students age 9 and up for dance class. Please refrain from wearing perfume or body sprays that may be bothersome to those with sensitivities.

Lost & Found

While we do maintain a lost and found box at the studio, PLEASE ensure that every item of clothing, etc., especially dance shoes, dance bags and book bags are appropriately labeled with your child’s name. The staff will assume no responsibility for lost, stolen or misplaced items.

No Food or Drink

No food is allowed in the hallway or common area. Drinks in containers that cannot be closed to avoid spilling are not allowed in the studio. We thank you in advance with your cooperation.

Observation & Videotaping

The doors are generally open for the last 10-15 minutes of class. However, if it becomes too distracting, the staff reserves the right to close the doors in order to properly conduct class. Parents MAY NOT sit in the classroom or VIDEO a class unless special arrangements have been made. Remember: it may not distract your child for you to be in class, but it is very distracting to other children who do not know you. Please keep all lobby conversations to a minimum. There are several other businesses in the building with us and it is imperative that noise in the common areas be kept to a minimum. Due to the current guidelines in place by the State of NH and also to continue to promote social distancing, we cannot have parents of dancers older than 7 waiting in our lobby or waiting area for extended periods of time. We kindly request that if you choose to wait for your dancer that you do so in your vehicle if possible. We do appreciate your cooperation, patience and understanding during this time!

Outside of Class

Proper respect for the director, staff, studio, curriculum, fellow students, and facility is expected of all students, parents, and siblings, on or off-site. When participating in a studio event, performance, out-of-town excursion, or when wearing the studio logo, exceptional behavior is as important as your ability to dance! Parents needing to speak to the staff should call the studio (or e-mail us) rather than hold instructors up between classes.

Dressing Room/Waiting Room information

We kindly request that when dropping off/picking up or waiting for your dancer, please keep the hallways clear and the noise at a minimum. It is for everyone’s safety as well as it will keep our neighbors in the building happy. You may not realize how distracting/disruptive it is to the classes in session when conversations take place standing outside the studio doorways. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Inclement Weather

For inclement weather cancellations, please check our website or our social media accounts @bedforddance on Instagram or our Facebook page Bedford Dance Center.  We do not always close when the schools cancel classes for the day.  At times, the weather has passed by the afternoon and we are able to resume with our schedule.  We will email you to let you know our plan.

Classes canceled due to inclement weather will be made up. Please refer to the make-up schedule emailed and posted at the studio for the appropriate make-up class times. Again, in line with our policy or class absences, credit will not be given for classes canceled due to bad weather conditions.
